✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The vibrational spectra of trimethylene oxide are discussed in relation to the molecular symmetry groups C~2v~ and C~s~. The information avaible at present seems to support a C~2v~ model rather than a C~s~ model. An assignment for all of the 24 fundamentals is suggested, including the very low nonplanar ring deformation frequency. Furthermore the statistically calculated thermodynamic functions of gaseous trimethylene oxide are calculated.
