and a coplanar microstrip feed has been studied. Good agreement between the simulated results and experimental ones confirms the cavity-model theoretical analysis. The results also demonstrate that this proposed antenna achieves high isolation (better than Ϫ41 dB) for two polarizations in the entire operating bandwidth (8.5-9.5 GHz) and a low cross-polarization level of less than Ϫ30 dB.

## Abstract The performance of a slot‐loop antenna with a very narrow outer conductor can be significantly improved by connecting to an extended ground plane whose length is a quarter wavelength. The antenna has a reduced size and wider impedance bandwidth. Simulations have been carried out in the
