✦ Synopsis

Saponification of triglyceride oil emulsified in alkaline aqueous solution

is found to proceed faster in presence of soaps from rosin acids than with soaps from fatty acids. The results are discussed in relation to differences in phase properties between the two types of soaps and applications in alkaline pulping.
