✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Rate constants for addition of hydroxylamine to a series of twenty‐four ketones have been measured, in water at 25,00 ± 0,02°C, for both acid‐catalyzed (k) and pH‐independent (k~o~) pathways. Structural effects seem to be operating in the same manner on k~o~ and k values, except in a few cases. Results are consistent with a “reactant‐like” transition state.

In the present investigation, we have measured the secondary kinetic deuterium isotope effects in hydroxylamine addition reaction for a series of cyclohexanones, both hindered and unhindered. We observed a slightly direct isotope effect, __k__^H^__/k__^D^ > 1.00, for unhindered cyclohexanones and an
