✦ Synopsis
Using 10.5 eV photoionization and time-of-flight mass analysis of the dissociation products of CH,(B *A', ) in a free jet, we have observed the photochemical production of CHZ. This application of pulsed supersonic jet flash pyrolysis takes advantage of the nearly quantitative radical yield in the nozzle source to eliminate interference from other molecular species that could obscure the predicted methyl radical photochemistry.

Femtosecond reaction dynamics of Rydberg states (6p 2E,,s and 7s sE,,s) in methyl iodide are reported. The observed ultrafast decay and the large isotope effect reflect the Rydberg-valence potentials crossing to yield CHr t 1. The dependence of the dynamics on the vibrational mode is studied with fo
Following earlier room-temperature studies, gaseous mixtures of methyl cyclobutyl ketone (MCK) diluted in argon have been photolyzed at temperatures up to 205°C. Experiments have been carried out at a variety of pressures (up to ca. 2 atm) at wavelengths of 313 nm (steady state conditions) and 308 n
## Abstract The Hg(6^3^__P__~1~) photosensitized decompositions of 3‐methyl‐1‐butene, 2‐methyl‐2‐butene, 3,3‐dimethyl‐1‐butene, and 2,3‐dimethyl‐1‐butene have been used to generate 1‐methylallyl, 1,2‐dimethylallyl, 1,1‐dimethylallyl, and 1,1,2‐trimethylallyl radicals in the gas phase at 24 ± 1°C. F
