14C from [2-14C] acetate was found to be incorporated into soluble and protein amino acids in substantial amounts by bean root apices. The 14C was spread through a wide range of amino acids in both these fractions. Glutamie acid was found to be heavily labelled with 14C in both soluble and protein a
