โœฆ Synopsis

Using the harvesting method of synchronizing L cells, the relationship of RNA synthesis to DNA replication was studied by the use of selective inhibitors o, C RNA synthesis such as actinomycin D and chromomycin succinate. The synthesis of the early replicating DNA fraction is a process sensitive to the inhibition of RNA synthesis during the G1 period.

Chinese hamster fibroblasts in monolayer cultures were synchronized by accumulating mitotic cells in the presence of Colcemid, removing the mitotic cells with a brief trypsin treatment, and growing them in medium lacking Colcemid. Such cultures grew normally and exhibited no significant deviations f

## Abstract Balb/C 3T3 cells entered the quiescent G~0~ state following serum deprivation. On addition of fresh serum, more than 95% of the culture resumed growth, but with asynchronous kinetics. If hydroxyurea were added just before the first cells reached S phase, at least 90% of the cells accumu

The rates of synthesis of various species of RNA were examined in synchronously growing HeLa cells as a function of stage in the cell generation cycle. The synthesis of each RNA species examined occurs throughout interphase, but undergoes a two-fold increase in rate during early S which is dependent
