✦ Synopsis


Thermodynamic and kinetic conditions are presented for reversion of particles possessing sharp concentration gradients. Driving energy for reversion is interfacial free energy between particles and matrix and chemical free energy of matrix. The particles show reversion when there exists competitive growth among the particles. Predictions of the reversion phenomena are presented on G.P. zones. intermediate phases, equilibrium phase, and secondary defects formed by quenched-in excess vacancies.

The validity of determining activation energy is discussed for the competitive growth process.

R&urn&Nous presentons les conditions thermodynamiques et cinttiques de la reversion de particules prCsentant de forts gradients de concentration. La force motrice pour la reversion est I'inergie libre de l'interface entre les particules et la matrice. Les particules prbentent la rkversion lorsqu'il existe un3 croissance competitive entre les particules. Nous pr&entons des prCvisions des phtnomtnes de rtversion dans le cas des zones G.P., des phases intermidiaires, de la phase d'&quilibre et des dCfauts secondairs form& par les lacunes en excts aprts trempe. Nous discutqns de la validit& de la d&termination de l'energie d'activation pour le processus de croissance com@titive. Zusammenfassung-Thermodynamische und kinetische Bedingungen werden ftir das Auftreten van Reversionsteilchen, die scharge Konzentrationsgradienten aufweisen, angegeben. Die treibende Kraft ftir die Reversion ist eine freie Grenzflschenenergie twischen den Teilchen und der Matrix. Die Teilcben weisen Reversion auf, wenn zwischen den Teilchen konkurrierendes Wachstum herrscht. Voraussagen der Reversion werden fir G.P-Zonen, i!wischenphasen, Gleichgewichtsphasen und Folgeeffekte durch eingeschreckte Leerstellen gemacht. Die Aussagekraft ermittelter Aktivierungsenergien wird fir den Prozess konkurrierenden Wachstums diskutiert.
