✦ Synopsis

Raman scattertng spectra of styrene and fluorostyrene are studred at e\cuatron wavelengths 305 and 337 nm in the ultravrolet and 577.8 nm III the vtsrble regton. The resonance effect in some of the vtbratrons is remarkably large. The results obtamed are dtxussed m relatron to the lowest exrted smglet photoreactrve states.

Resonance Raman spectra of the lowest excited triplet state of chlorophyll a are obtained in benzene and in methanol by pumping at 660 nm in the Q, band and pmbing at 460 nm which is close to the absorption maximum of the T, state. Tbe spectrum observed in polar methanol differs significantly from t
