The Board of Managers of The Franklin Institute, deploring the passing away of its honored member, the former president of the Institute, JOHN BIR~rNBINE, unanimously resolves to place on record in the minutes of the Board, as an expression of regard and esteem by his associates, this present memento of the manifold services rendered by John Birkinbine to The Franklin Institute during the fifty years of his active participation in its work.
The Board further resolves that this memorial be published in the JOURNAL Of the Institute and that a copy thereof be engrossed and transmitted to the family of its departed member.
