โฆ Synopsis
Born in England, a life span of nearly eighty-four years was spent mostly in the United States where many active and helpful years were devoted to distinguished services in the field of science.
When Professor Thomson became of legal age he joined The Franklin Institute and continued his membership throughout his entire life. He conducted courses in the Institute, he served as a member of the Board of Managers, he was a frequent contributor to the JOURNAL, and he was a worthy recipient of the honors of The Franklin Institute.
Professor Thomson's fine qualities and kindly disposition endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His deep understanding of human nature enhanced greatly his scientific achievements.
Therefore be it
Resolved: That this expression of sorrow at the passing of a greatly esteemed member of the Institute be spread upon its minutes and that a copy be sent to Professor Thomson's family in testimony of the sympathy of the Board in its bereavement and, further, that a copy be printed in the JOURNAL OF THE INSTITUTE. March 17, 1937.
