✦ Synopsis


Madison are involved in research that has either direct or indirect application to continuing education in the health sciences. The content of this article is organized around the areas of (1)philosophy of continuing education, (2) continuing education program development, (3) the adult learner and teaching-learning approaches, and (4) evaluation of continuing education programs. A summary of the faculty and their students' research activities is presented. aculty and graduate students in the Depart-F ment of Continuing and Vocational Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison conduct research on a variety of questions related directly or indirectly to continuing education in the health sciences. The department is comprehensive, offering Bachelor of Science degrees in several fields, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Thus, much of the research is broadly based with application to several professions, including the health sciences.
