The nif cistrons indentified by complementation analysis in the preceding paper (Dixon et al., 1977) were mapped with respect to hisD and to each other other by P1 cotransduction and three-factor reciprocal crosses. The order obrained was hisD nifB nifA (nifL) nifF nifE nifK nifD nifH. Analysis of h
We have determined the sequence of the lamB gene from Klebsiella pneumoniae. It encodes the precursor to the LamB protein, a 429 amino acid polypeptide with maltoporin function. Comparison with the Escherichia coli LamB protein reveals a high degree of homology, with 325 residues strictly identical.
The glnA, ntrB and ntrC genes of Klebsiella pneumoniae have been cloned, on a 12 kb HindIII fragment, into the plasmid pACYC184. In a coupled in vitro transcription/translation system the resultant plasmid, pGE100, directed synthesis of five polypeptides (molecular weights 73, 53, 51, 39, 36 kd) fro
