✦ Synopsis

This contribution advocates the dissemination of similarity-based fuzzy orderings-a generalized concept of fuzzy orderings which appears to be unavoidable as soon as the classical correspondences between preorderings, equivalence relations, and orderings are taken into account. In contrast to earlier papers on the topic, this paper is focused on representation and construction results which once more demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed concept.

We show that for a fuzzy partial order R on a ΓΏnite universe , there is a ΓΏnite family of fuzzy linear orders {Li: 16i6k} such that R(x; y) = min{ L i (x; y): 16i6k} for all x and y. This generalizes a well-known result on crisp partial orders, which states that each partial order on a ΓΏnite set is

Until now, the idea of a fuzzy database has been investigated along different lines: Some authors have dealt with the imprecision of attribute values by modeling, using fuzzy similarity relations, the extent to which these values could be regarded as interchangeable. Others have used possibility di

The work described in this paper proposes a method for the measurement of similarity, viewed from the decision maker's perspective. At first, an algorithm is presented that generalizes a discrete fuzzy set F, representing a model, given another discrete fuzzy set G representing new evidence. The alg

In this paper, the notions of similar fuzzy numbers and similarity preserving additions of fuzzy numbers are introduced. Using similar fuzzy numbers enables to investigate preserving the type of fuzzy numbers with respect to the t-norm-based arithmetical operations, especially in the case of fuzzy n
