The addition rules of fuzzy numbers based on the generalized t-norms are given, which generalized the "min"-normbased addition rule of fuzzy numbers. The results are also extended to fuzzy intervals, Its possible applications are pointed.

✦ Synopsis
In this paper, the notions of similar fuzzy numbers and similarity preserving additions of fuzzy numbers are introduced. Using similar fuzzy numbers enables to investigate preserving the type of fuzzy numbers with respect to the t-norm-based arithmetical operations, especially in the case of fuzzy numbers with unbounded supports. The conditions for preserving similarity of fuzzy numbers with unbounded supports with respect to the additions based on continuous t-norms are given. Since the fuzzy numbers we deal with are different from fuzzy numbers considered in a previous paper [Busefal 69 (1997) 43-54], there are more possible cases described. The introduced notions are illustrated with several examples.
