## Abstract Luminescence spectra obtained by electron bombardment (cathodoluminescence, CL) on bundles of pristine single walled (SWCNT) and multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) show several common peaks at 1.76, 1.94, 2.06, and 2.22 eV which disappear after heating the samples up to 1300 K. We sh

β¦ Synopsis
A non-destructive mild oxidation method of removing some impurities from as-grown carbon nanotubes (CNTs), including single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), by H 2 O 2 oxidation and HCl treatment, has been investigated, and somewhat pure carbon nanotubes have been prepared. The CNTs from which some impurities were removed have been evaluated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and temperature programmed oxidation and gas chromatography (TPO-GC).
