Abstract
Cabeceira et al. recently presented a time‐domain analysis of wave propagation in a Tellegen medium [1]. Their analysis is ill‐founded because (i) the existence of any Tellegen medium is not tenable within modern electromagnetic theory; and (ii) the constitutive relations employed are not consistent with the principle of causality.© 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, a novel TLM algorithm for electromagnetic wave propagation in chiral media is presented. One of the main characteristics of the electromagnetic response of such media is the rotation of the polarization plane. The obtained TLM results for a monochromatic source are compared with the t
## Abstract The work of Barba et al.1 is fatally flawed on two counts: (i) the existence of Tellegen mediums is unrecognizable in modern electromagnetic theory, and (ii) the time‐domain constitutive relations used in the commented upon work are noncausal. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Op
## Abstract A time‐domain solution of electromagnetic wave propagation in Tellegen materials is presented. The angle tilt between electric and magnetic fields, the phase speed of the wave, and the intrinsic impedance are computed when the medium is excited with a monochromatic source. The results a
