✦ Synopsis

TIC rlecwonic spectra and ektrochemical pokntials of the speck [Ru(bipy).(NN),_ r]2' (bipy = 2.2'-bipyridme. NN = unsamrared dlimine. x =l.?) arc corrclnkd via rundamenlnl relalionships involving rrorganisnrion and salvation energ~~ It is argued char the presence of two distinct RP -hgand charge lnnsler LIYWILIO~B nllo~s COITI~WSO~ or the reorganlsnlion energies Iherefore. We have recently been concerned [l-3], as have others [4-g], with relationtips between optical transition energies and electrochemical potentials. Such a study may reveal details concerning the various solvation energies, and the inner and outer reorganisation energies involved in the two measurements. So far mterest has centred on a smgle charge transfer transition between states involving levels GX and IJ~ and the electrochemical potentials for oxidation of the former and reduction of the latter.
