✦ Synopsis

The framework aluminum content (AlJ of hydrothermally dealuminated Y-type zeolites (HDY's) strongly affects hydrocracking catalyst performance. As Air decreases, conversion activity decreases, while intrinsic liquid selectivity and coke fouling resistance both improve. Appropriate specification of Al, is thus an essential aspect of obtaining optimal catalyst performance. It is therefore significant that unit cell size is not a reliable indicator of Al, in HDY's: other analytical techniques, e.g., ?3i NMR or ion exchange capacity must be used.
