✦ Synopsis

Photochemical polar addition of alcohols to 1,1-diaryl-1,2,3-butatriene derivatives in the presence of a catalytic amount of 9,10-dicyanoanthracene regioselectively afforded 1,1-diaryl-4-alkoxy-1,2-butadienes as addition products in good yields via photoinduced electron transfer.
