✦ Synopsis
The present work deals with the problems of vacuum metallurgy and the method of exact casting of refined copper. Copper refining comprises deoxidation and removal of hydrogen, oxygen as well as some volatile components. The non-solubility of nitrogen in molten metal is also considered.
The refining theory in high vacuum copper melting by evaporation is dealt with. On the basis of removal of some undesirable elements by evaporation process as well as secondary deoxidation of molten metal during melting and casting process a new production method of castings fabrication of pure, especially oxygen-free copper is illustrated.
The method of castings fabrication of high purity copper has been verified on a series of castings of very intricate shapes weihing from 100 g to 50 kg. Considerable savings could be achived including materials moulds, work expenditure and electric energy.
