This paper reviews, up to their recent developments, two types of models of the cell cycle: those considering the size controls over the cycle events and the transition probability models. The distribution of inter-mitotic time and the sister-sister and motherdaughter correlations implied by the two approaches are discussed in view of some relevant experimental data.
