✦ Synopsis
Recent data and theory for the production of Drell-Yan, heavy quarks and Quarkonia are reviewed. QCD theory is shown to do an excellent job of treating Drell-Yan and heavy quark production, but conventional models for quarkonia fail dramatically. The new Color Octet Model may provide the solution. If correct, the model predicts that strong nuclear effects will be observed in J/¢ production, in agreement with the data.
