The xF distribution of Jψ production in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions

✦ Synopsis

J/O total and XF differential hadroproduction cross sections are calculated in the framework of NRQCD. Our results include contributions from the complete set of channels of order a 3 for both color-singlet and color-octet components. We see that the corrections of O(a 3) significantly enhance the cross section. The color-octet fraction is found to be insensitive to the beam energy and to increase with xe, approaching unity as XF becomes large. Using a two-component absorption model, we study the J/~ suppression in pA collisions and deduce the XF dependence for the ratio R.
