โฆ Synopsis
Facilities to supply hydrogen to FCVs will be tested alongside the road test program. The Engineering Advancement Association of Japan will lead the effort to set up five such facilities in Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures. The automakers participating in the road test will refuel their cars with hydrogen to check procedures and determine safety issues.
In addition, stationary fuel cells made by Sanyo Electric and other firms, designed to supply power to businesses and households, will be set up in 12 locations across Japan this fall. This project, sponsored by the New Energy Foundation, will assess how fuel cells operate under various environmental conditions, including coastal winds and winter temperatures.
