✦ Synopsis
The autoxidation of Fe^2+^ in the presence of the chelating agents 1,2‐dihydroxybenzene‐3,5‐disulfonic acid and 1,8‐dihydroxynaphtalene‐3,6‐disulfonic acid has been studied. The reaction of the chelates Fe^II^HZ and Fe^II^Z, respectively, with O~2~ determines the over all rate of Fe^III^ formation.
