โœฆ Synopsis

A beam of surface muons (4-l MeV) was used to generate thermal&d muonium atoms Or'e-) i;l aqueous solutions.

From m easurements of the muonium atom relaxation time in the presence of various solutes. bimolecuh rate con.stant~ were determined and compred with the correspond&g reactions of the much heavier isotope, the hydrogen atom.

The decay oi H-atoms in several y-irradiated aqueous solutions was examined by ESR spectroscopy from 'UยฐK to 150ยฐK. In perchloric acid the decay indicates the presence of two trapping sites. The more strongly trapped H-atoms decay by a first-order process, apparently resulting from a slow release fr
