✦ Synopsis

The decay oi H-atoms in several y-irradiated aqueous solutions was examined by ESR spectroscopy from 'UΒ°K to 150Β°K. In perchloric acid the decay indicates the presence of two trapping sites. The more strongly trapped H-atoms decay by a first-order process, apparently resulting from a slow release from the traps followed by a fast reaction.

Isotope effects in the yields of H-and D-atoms in acid, neutral and alkaline matrices lwe been studied bp EPR merhods. In acid matrices the isotope effect is the same in UV-and X-irmdiated matrices, but in neutral and alhaline m&rices the effect is Iarger in UV-irradiated matrices. Furthermore, \\he
