✦ Synopsis
Thick films of YBa2Cu307.O (YBCO) have been fabricated on Y203 substrates by reaction between a mixture of BaCuO 2 and Cut. It is necessary to fire films above the binary eutectic temperature in order for adequate reaction to take place. Films fired at 950°C and 1000°C are polycrystalline in nature and typically have Tc's of about 90K and Jc's of 150AJcm 2. At higher temperatures a mixture of Y2BaCuO5 and Y2Cu205 is produced.
