✦ Synopsis

Nitrosotrifluoromethane or nitrosopentafluoroethane reacted with trimethylsilyl diethyl or tvis(trimethylsily1) phosphite to give phosphato-fluorocarbiminoor phosphato-trifluoroacetimino-phos- phonates and fluorotrimethylsilane. Some intermediate compounds could be detected by N M R spectroscopy, namely, diethyl (N-trimethylsiloxy-N-trifluoromethyl)-or diethyl (N-trimethylsiloxy-N-penta-fluoroethy1)amidophosphate and difluorocarbimino diethyl phosphate.

Reaction of commercially available trialkyl phosphites with N-phthalylamino acids gave mixtures of seven products, whereas the same reaction carried out with pure triethyl phosphite yielded only the desired 2-(N-phthalylamino)-1-oxoalkanephosphonates. These compounds underwent rearrangement to the s
