## Abstract As a model reaction for the selective hydrogenation of carboxylic acids towards aldehydes, the reaction of acetic acid towards acetaldehyde has been investigated. Various oxides are used as catalysts, including platinum‐enriched oxides. It appeared that oxides with a moderate metal‐oxyg
