โœฆ Synopsis

Long-chain diazoketones and haloketones are highly reactive compounds which are eminently suitable for the synthesis of a great variety of lipids.

Methods for the preparation of diazoketones and haloketones as well as typical reactions of these intermediates are described, and new applications are suggested.

* The letter a is used here, in a limited sense, to denote terminally substituted methylketones such as 1-diazo-2-ketoalkanes (I) and 1-chloro-2-ketoalkanes (II).
