✦ Synopsis
graphed in light petroleum (40-60°C) on A1,0, (Woelm, basic, activity grade 111). ( I ) and ( 2 a ) e ( 2 b ) are eluted almost simultaneously [total amount 5.0 g, composition as determined by NMR: 2.6g (1) and 2.4g ( 2 a ) + ( 2 b ) [45% yield based on reacted ( I ) ] .
Fractions containing more than 40% ( 2 a ) + / 2 b ) are combined, the solvent evaporated off, and the residue recrystallized from npentane : 1.2 g of colorless crystals, m. p. 76-78 "C (after repeated recrystallization from n-pentane). 0.7 g of (1) could be recovered. IR (in CC1, and CS,): 3080, 3055, 3030 (m), 1615 (w), 1471, 1460 (m), 1090, 1028, 1008 (w). 940 (m), 765, 742, 725 (s) cm-I. UV/visible (in n-heptane): 303 (3.568), 290 (3.668), 257 (4.118) nm (log&). MW: 192 (determined by mass spectrometry).
