โœฆ Synopsis

We thank Drs. Malo and Chan-Yeung for illustrating, in greater detail, the fact that different definitions of occupational asthma serve different purposes. Clearly, some of the definitions reflect differences in local legal frameworks, and it is unlikely that any single definition will apply universally. We do agree with them that whatever one calls it, occupational asthma or workrelated asthma, both should be prevented.

Thanks also to Drs. Ross and MacDonald, for calling attention to our misstatement regarding incidence. We remain impressed by the difference in incidence between the Milton et al. report [1998] and the results from surveillance studies .
