✦ Synopsis


Rates of gas-solid reactions of the type A,.. + Bsolld + Csoud are followed under con- ditions of pulsed gas-chromatography. The special case is considered wherein B is a non-stoichiometric ("reduced") oxide and A is oxygen.

A generalized method is developed, which implies the selection of a particular dimensionless time. Plots of TV, fraction of reduced B which undergoes reoxidation, as a function of time will allow to distinguish amongst possible reaction mechanisms.
