✦ Synopsis
Using a relative rate method, rate constants for the gas-phase reactions of the OH radical with 1-and 2-propyl nitrate, 1-and 2-butyl nitrate and l-nitrobutane have been determined in the presence of one atmosphere of air at 298 t 2 K. Using rate constants for the reactions of the OH radical with propane and cyclohexane of 1.15 x lo-'' and 7.49 x lo-'* cm3 molecule-' s-I, respectively, following rate constants (in units of lo-'' cm3 molecule-' s-' ) were obtained: l-propyl nitrate, 0.62; 2-propyl nitrate, 0.41; l-butyl nitrate, 1.78; 2-butyl nitrate, 0.93; and l-nitrobutane, 1.35. These rate constants are compared and discussed with the literature data.
