โฆ Synopsis
Rate constants have been measured over the temperature range 245-419 K for the gas-phase reactions of the hydmxyl radical with the hydrofluorocarbons CHF,CF,CF,CHF, and CF&HFCHFCF2CF,. The Arrhenius expressions k (CHF,CF,CFzCHF,) =(7.80i3.40)X10-'3exp[-(1.51~0.26)~103/T] and k(CF,CHFCHFCF~CF,)=(4.21+1.28)x10-'3exp[-(1.40f 0.18 ) x 1 03/T] cm3 molecule-' s-' were derived from the kinetic data. The atmospheric lifetimes of CHF&F,CF,CHF, and CF,CHFCHFCF$ZF, were estimated, relative to CQCH,, to be 14 and 17 years.

A variety of relative and absolute techniques have been used to measure the reactivity of fluorine atoms with a series of halogenated organic compounds and CO. The following rate constants were derived, in units of cm3 molecule-' s-l: CH3F, (3.7 2 0.8) X CH3C1, (3.3 2 0.71 X 10 -'I; CH3Br, (3.0 2 0.
