✦ Synopsis

infliximab. In contrast, similar psoriasiform lesions are reported to have been induced by infliximab in a few patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. [3][4][5][6][7] Such an undesired, dermatologically adverse effect is considered a delayed hypersensitivity reaction that commonly occurs during various anti-TNF-␣ therapies because psoriasiform lesions have also been shown to have been induced by etanercept and adalimumab. Heymann 8 reported that those skin lesions occur mainly on the palms and soles predominantly in women. Because most patients with psoriasis induced by infliximab were treated simultaneously with immunosuppressive agents such as azathioprine or methotrexate, those agents are unlikely to prevent the adverse reaction. Because the precise mechanism of the paradoxical development of psoriasiform lesions during anti-TNF-␣ therapy is still unclear and these lesions are not easy to predict, there is a need to accumulate and analyze more cases of the association.
