✦ Synopsis

The energies of intense electron beams are obtained through the best fit of the experimental curves of the fraction of the electron current transmitted through absorbers of different thicknesses. At energies ranging between 750 and 450 keV, the extrapolated range R0 was measured, using stainless steel absorbers.

The range-energy relation obtained was found in agreement with the relation R. = A&-, a+ olnEg. When R,-, is expressed in g/cm2 and E, in MeV, we have A = 0.774, a = 2.105 and i3 = 0.167.

## Abstract Motions of electrons driven by the fields of relativistically intense laser pulses are studied. The treatment is based on the numerical solution of the relativistic Newton's equation with the Lorentz force. It is demonstrated that an electron can be accelerated by a relativistically int
