โœฆ Synopsis

The two most popular frequency response function estimators, H 1 and H 2 give biased estimates when measured input and output signals are contaminated by uncorrelated noises. Recently, an improved frequency response function estimator H s was proposed for reducing the bias error due to measurement noises, but without any analysis on the random error. In this paper, the random error formula for H s has been derived for accurate estimation of desired function. The result shows that the random error in the magnitude of H s is always smaller than that of H 2 , but larger than that of H 1 .

Model updating is a very active research field, in which significant effort has been invested in recent years. Model updating methodologies are invariably successful when used on noise-free simulated data, but tend to be unpredictable when presented with real experimental data that are-unavoidably-c

The estimation of transfer-function parameters, such as poles and zeros, is useful for characterizing and identifying electromagnetic scatterers. The conventional frequency-domain Prony's technique can estimate these parameters from sampled, frequency-domain data. However, it fails to estimate the t
