## Abstract The Raman spectra of polyโ€Lโ€lysine hydrochloride and polyโ€ฯตโ€carbobenzoxyโ€Lโ€lysine in the solid state have been obtained and are consistent with the presence of an ฮฑโ€helical structure. The Raman spectrum of polyโ€Lโ€lysine in aqueous solution suggests the presence of random coil structures

## Abstract The Raman spectrum of polyโ€DLโ€alanine (PDLA) in the solid state is interpreted in terms of the disordered chain conformation, in analogy with the spectrum of mechanically deformed polyโ€Lโ€alanine. The polymer is largely disordered with only a small ฮฑโ€helical content in the solid state. W
