## Abstract The results of a study of Raman scattering of Zn~1‐x~Be~x~Se mixed crystals are reported. Raman measurements were performed for crystals with __x__ = 0.12 and __x__ = 0.25 Be at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature. From the Raman spectra the longitudinal optical and transve

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Raman spectra of the liquid crystal PPU [p‐(p‐ethoxyphenylazo)‐phenyl undecylenate] have been measured as a function of temperature covering all phases. A pronounced hysteresis which involves a new state has been observed during the crystalline‐nematic transition. The Raman intensities in the nematic phase show a temperature dependence in the presence of an external magnetic field.
