Abstract
Raman spectra of crystalline pentachloroaniline (PCA) have been measured. The infrared spectra have also been recorded for solid and solutions in CCl~4~ between 4000β200 cm^β1^. An assignment of the observed frequencies has been proposed for a C~s~ molecular symmetry based on related halogen substituted benzene derivatives. The molecule does not appear to selfβassociate in CCl~4~ solutions although there is some evidence for a weak hydrogen bonding in the solid state.

## Abstract Vibrational spectra of solid tribromofluoromethane at temperatures between 12 K and the melting point were obtained using Raman and infrared techniques, with special emphasis on the lattice modes. No evidence for a solidβstate phase transition was found. Lattice peaks are tentatively as
