Abstract
The rainfall of the Isle of Man has been examined, making use of all available data, much of it relating to only very short periods. This discussion has been made possible by treating all the short records from the aspect of their differences on Douglas. The Island is divided into seven rainfall zones, the characteristics of which are discussed. Maps of the average annual fall and the average number of rainβdays and wetβdays are presented. Fluctuations of annual rainfall have been found to lie between 64 and 145 per cent of average. When compared with other Irish Sea coastal areas, the Douglas average rainfall is shown to be most closely correlated with that of the North Wales coast and South Scotland.
