Pteroyltyrosine, a folate analog was synthesized by the condensation of 6-formylpterin and p-aminobenzoyl-L.-tyrosine methyl ester followed by dimethylamine borane reduction and mild deesterification. The radioiodinated nroduct was employed in a competitive protein binding assay for pteroylghrtamic (folic) acid.
