β¦ Synopsis
Using a source of As v4 in the form of arsine gas, a resonance fluorescence effect from the 635 kev level in Se v4 has been observed. Due to the small abundance of Se v4 (0.87 per cent), the effect is not very pronounced and the mean life of 6 X 10 -12 second, calculated from the magnitude of the resonance fluorescence cross section, is therefore uncertain to within a factor of two.
