A previously derived expression for Franck-Condon factors of radiationless transitions in aromatic hydrocarbons contains a semi-empirical anharmonicity parameter. It is shown that this parameter can be calculated accurately on the basis of Morse potentials.

It is shown that the fluorescence and intorsystem crossing in monocyclic diazines originate from the second excited singlet state (S$. The occurrence of these phenomena is justified on the basis of the slow S, -E+ internal conversion resulting from the low density of states.
The quantitative interpretation of the fluorescence quenching of anthracene in various solvents based on a recently deveIoped theory of radiationless transitions is given. It is shown that high temperature results can be expIained in terms of the Sl-+ Ta transition only\_ so there is no need to assu
