Quenching of aromatic excited singlet states (9,10-dimethyl anthracene, 9,10-diphenyl anthracene and perylene) by nitroxyl radical was studied by flash photolysis and fluorimetrically. It is established that the dominant quenching mechanism is enhanced intersystem crossing in the collision complex w
