✦ Synopsis
Cz(a 3Ru) has bern
produced in the multiplephoton dissociation oi'acryionitrile, C2H$N, by a TEA CO= laser. Laserinduced fiuorescence has been used to determine time-resolved reI&ve Cz concentrations in the presence of added AI and 02 and second-order rate constants of 2 X IO-r5 and 3.4 X 10-r* cm3 molecule-' s-l have been obtained for these two quenchers, respectively. Vacuum-ultraviolet chemiluminescence is observed in the quenching by 02_

Magnetic field effects on the emission intensity were studied for the NO/3 bands in an afterglow produced by a microwave discharge of a N 2 -02 mixture. The (0, v") bands were quenched remarkably by an external magnetic field below 1.8 T, while the (1, o") and (2, v") bands were slightly intensified
