โœฆ Synopsis

An expression

for the transition probability of the time-resolved two-photon ionization process via coherently excited resonant intermediate states is derived using the perturbative density matrix formalism. Within this formalism, the phase relaxation due to system/bath interactions can be properly incorporated.

Model calculations of time-resolved spectra have been carried out to demonstrate the appearance of quantum beats and dephasing effects in both time-resolved pump-probe and probing-pulse time-resolved experiments.

The angular distribution of photoelectrons ejected from the time-resolved resonant two-photon ionization of polyatomic molecules is theoretically studied taking into account the rotational k-coherence created by rotation-vibration (Coriolis) couplings in the resonant state. Effects of vibronic dephasings on the time-dependent degree of polarization in the two-photon ionization of an isolated symmetric top molecule are theoretically studied. The so-called fast (picosecond) decays of polarization in isolated trans-stilbene are explained in terms of a Coriolis-induced vib

The iotiation thxeshold of fluoranthene and of TMPD in rz-pentane was determmed by laser two-photon ionization (TPI) and found to be 450 c-0.05 and 3 88 + O-05 eV respectmely. For both molecules the TPI spectra show distinct structure due to autoionization. For fluoranthene the TPI spectrum suggests
